Drake-Smith in Navy Hospital Commander Daniel Drake-Smith, of Forest Avenue, who was recently evacuated from the Pacific area and is now at, the Navy Hospital, San Diego, Calif. , is expected to be ordered East soon.

Funeral services were held this morning at Christ's Church for Daniel Drake-Smith, former resident, who died Tuesday of a heart attack at Union Hospital, Fall River, Mass. His home was in Little Compton, R. I. The Rev. Dr. Wendell Phillips, rector, conducted the services and interment was in the family plot in Greenwood Cemetery, Brooklyn. Mr. Drake-Smith was born in New York City the son of the late Barstow and Clara L. Drake-Smith He attended school in New York City and Rye and graduate d from St. Paul School, Concord, N. H., in 1914. He left Yale in his junior year with Yale Batteries with Tenth Field Artillery for Mexican border service. In 1917 he enlisted in the U. S. Naval Reserve and was commissioned ensign in 1918, serving aboard the USS "Arizona" with the Atlantic Fleet during World War I. Mr. Drake-Smith received his B.A. degree from Yale and in 1923 entered Columbia Law School graduating in 1926 with L.L.D. He practiced law in New York City and Westchester County. Recalled to active duty with the U. S. Nava l Reserve in 1941 as a lieutenant commander, he served later a t headquarters 3rd naval district as a commander. He also was executive officer and acting commanding officer of the Naval Receiving Barracks, Lido Beach, Fla., and was on the staff of the commanding general, 24 division in the Pacific Theatre during World War II. In 1945 he returned to inactive duty by reason of physical disability.
