John R Bumstead was born in New York in 1923. In Rye his family lived at 333 Rye Beach Avenue and were members of the Presbyterian Church. John was a Rye High School Graduate, Class of 1941. He served as an officer in the U.S. Navy during World War II.

BUMSTEAD JOHN R., of 8910 SW 17th St., Miami, passed away at Doctors' Hosp. on Sat. Born In St. Louis, Mo., he had been e resident of Dade County since 1944. He was with the Public Works Dept. with the City of Miami for over 25 years. He was a Supervisor with the Council for the City of Miami Employees and wet a member of the South Fla. Historical Society and Veteran of WW II. He is survived by his wife EVVelyn, Miami, brother Robert E. Bumstead, New Hint. dor, NY, sisters, Mrs. William Conover and Miss Edna Mae Bumstead, NY. Ft,. moral services will be held 11 a.m. Tues. In the BESS-COMBS CORAL GABLES CHAPEL 1661 SW 37th Ave. Dr. Robert Harvey officiating. Interment limier Memorial Park Cemetery. Priencle may call 64 p.m. Mon. (today).
