William A. Bumstead was born in Missouri in 1917. In Rye his family lived at 333 Rye Beach Avenue and were members of the Presbyterian Church. William enlisted in 1942 and served in the U.S. Army during World War II.

STAMFORD - William A. Bumstead, 46, of Hobart Road, Stamford, died unexpectedly September 16 while at work. Funeral services will be at a.m. Saturday, September 19 at the Hall Funeral Home, Stamford, with the Rev. William Phinney, pastor of Stamford Methodist Church, officiating, Burial will be in Stamford Cemetery. He was born October 13, 1917 in St. Louis, Mo., son of R. and Edna (McGarrhan) Bumstead. He married Joyce Dowling March 1, 1947 at Rye. He was'vice ยท president and head of 'the accounting department of Catskill Craftsmen, Inc., Stamford. He was a resident of for the past 10 years, moving from Rye. Surviving are his wife; his mojiier of Mamaroneck; two sisters, Mrs. William Conovcr Old Greenwich, Conn., Miss Edna Bumstead, o'f Mamaron-. eck; two brothers, Robert of Summit, N.J., John of Miami, Fla.; several nieces and nephews. Friends may.call at the Hall Funeral Home, Stamford, at their convenience. The family will be in attendance Friday after 7 p.m.
