John Shethar was born in New York in 1927. In Rye his family lived on Stuyvesant Avenue. John enlisted in 1945 and served in the U.S. Marine Corps during World War II.

Shethar-Kropp Miss Arline Louise Kropp wore a cream satin gown trimmed with white mink and a small white mink hat for her marriage to John She-thar, son of Mr. and Mrs. John Burke Shethar of Rye, N. Y., at 4 p. m. yesterday in the Congregational church, Ivanhoe. Her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Roy A. Kropp of Mun-delein, gave a reception at their home, Chardon farms. Mrs. David Bell Peck III served as matron of honor. After a wedding trip to Round Hill, Jamaica, Mr. Shethar and his bride will live on the north side.
