Phillip E Vollmer


Phillip Everett Vollmer was born on October 25, 1914, in New York to Thelma Gertrude Dunn, age 23, and Edwin Belknap Vollmer, age 26.

He had a brother Charles an a sister Natalie and in Rye his family lived at 281 Rye Beach Ave.

Phillip was a Rye High School Graduate, Class of 1932.

He enlisted June 12, 1942 in U.S. Army and served during World War II as a corporal in the 304th Infantry Regiment of the 76th Infantry Division

On November 11, 1944, the 304th Infantry Regiment moved out for Europe. Once in Europe, the 304th Regiment participated in the Battle of the Bulge, the Battle of the Rhineland and the Battle of Central Germany.

When hostilities ended on VE Day, the 304th Regiment was given the task of governing Altenburg and Rochlitz. The regiment was disbanded while still in Germany on 31 August 1945

Phillip was honorably discharged on January 8, 1946 after 3 1/2 years in the army, 13 months of it overseas

He married Kathryn Louise Soule February 9, 1951 and they had two sons

Phillip Everett Vollmer died on January 6, 1974, in Barnstable, Massachusetts, at the age of 59.
