Douglas Vought was born on May 25, 1923, in New York City, New York, to Anna Louise Klencke, age 35, and Franklin Douglas Vought, age 36. In Rye his family lived on Forest Avenue and were members of Christ’s Church. Douglas was a graduate of Taft School and attended Wesleyan University.
Douglas enlisted and served in the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II, rising to the rank of sergeant.
He married Jean Dorothy Eckhardt on March 3, 1945, in Harrison, New York.

Mr. and Mrs. Max Eckardt, of Sterling Road, announce the engagement, and forthcoming marriage of their daughter, Miss Jean Dorothy Eckardt, to Sergeant Douglas Vought, Jr. , serving with the Army Air Corps, son of Mr. and Mrs. Douglas Vought, Forest Avenue. Sergeant Vought is a graduate of Taft School and attended Wesleyan University before enlisting. The wedding is to take place on March 3rd at Christs Church.
