Raymond Cotrone

Raymond Cotrone was born on September 3, 1925, to Jessie Critch and Ferdinand Cotrone He had a brother Ambrose and a sister Louise and in Rye his family lived at 9 Garden Drive. Raymond was a Rye High School Graduate, Class of 1943.

He enlisted October 14, 1942 and served in the US Army during World War II. He served with the 399th Infantry Regiment Engineers.

The 399th Infantry Regiment, part of the 100th Infantry Division (“Sons of Bitche”), fought extensively in the European Theater (Vosges Mountains, France, and Germany) during 1944-1945. While not a dedicated “Engineer” battalion, the 399th utilized attached combat engineers to overcome obstacles, clear landmines, and repair blown bridges during their advance toward the Rhine and in the Battle of Heilbronn.

Raymond was honorably discharged February 24, 1946.

He married Nancy Vignali September 2, 1950 in Greenwich CT. At the time Raymond was working as an accountant with a magazine publisher. The couple would have one son and two daughters during their marriage.

Raymond Cotrone died in March 2000 in Tarzana, California, at the age of 74.
