David Lloyd Geer
EARLY LIFE
David Lloyd Geer was born on May 16, 1895, in Portland, Connecticut, the son of David Henry Geer and Bertha L. Kelsey.
He moved to Rye as a child and was raised there at the turn of the twentieth century, when the town was evolving from a coastal village into a growing suburban community.
He later worked as a carpenter.
WORLD WAR I SERVICE
Geer was inducted into the United States Army on June 24, 1918, in Westchester County, New York.
He served in the 152nd Depot Brigade.
He remained stateside and was promoted to Corporal and later Sergeant. His record indicates no wounds received in action, and he was honorably discharged on May 28, 1919.
POSTWAR LIFE
Geer worked as a carpenter and was active in the Rye Fire Department and American Legion Post 93.
David Lloyd Geer died on November 30, 1939, at United Hospital. He was survived by his wife, Ann Jouret Geer; his mother, Bertha; a brother, Howard; and a sister.
