EARLY LIFE
David Leslie Gedney was born on October 2, 1895, in Rye, New York, the son of George H. Gedney and Josephine Clark Miller.
He was raised in Rye and remained a lifelong resident of the community.
WORLD WAR I SERVICE
Gedney was inducted into the United States Army on April 26, 1918, at Port Chester, New York.
He served with Evacuation Hospital No. 28 and Base Hospital No. 80 in France.
He served overseas from September 26, 1918, to May 24, 1919.
His record indicates no wounds received in action. He was honorably discharged on June 3, 1919.
POSTWAR LIFE
Gedney worked as a printer in Rye for many years and was active in the Rye Methodist Church and Fire Department.
David Leslie Gedney died on June 23, 1973, at United Hospital. He was survived by his sons, Leslie D., Charles E., and Albert; his daughter, Barbara; a brother, James; 13 grandchildren; and 5 great-grandchildren.
