Description

John A. Dinardo was born on June 24, 1924, in Port Chester, New York, to Pam Rocco and Charles Dinardo. John attended Port Chester and Rye schools and in Rye his family lived at 48 Cedar Place.

John enlisted in 1943 and served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He was a staff sergeant and served three years, with 15 months in the Pacific Theater. He later served in the Marine Corps Reserve.

After the war, John married Philomena Eleanor Bisignano in October 1946 when he was 22 years old. At the time he was associated with Drinkwater Sons, Inc., Greenwich, CT.

After the war he moved to New Jersey. He was a well driller with Eric Richmond, Point Pleasant, where he worked for more than 20 years before his retirement in 1989.

In addition, he co-owned the Stanwall Inn, Point Pleasant, with his mother. He belonged to the Point Pleasant Fire Company and was a member of the Sportsman Club and the Pioneer Club, both in Point Pleasant.

He lived in Point Pleasant from 1954 to 1962, before moving to Howell from 1962 to 1978 before moving to Brick, NJ in 1979.

John A. Dinardo died Friday January 5, 2001 at Meridian Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Brick, NJ. He was predeceased by his wife, Phyllis Bisignano Dinardo, in 1994.

At the time of his death he was survived by his son, John Dinardo Jr. of Lake Oswego, Ore.; a daughter, Diane C. Smith of Howell; a brother, Robert Dinardo of Kendall Park; eight grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.

A funeral Mass was held at St. William the Abbott Church, Howell.

Entombment was at Fairview Cemetery, Middletown..
