William E. Diringer

William Edmund Diringer was born on June 25, 1917, in Westchester, New York, to Jennie Lewis, age 36, and Jacob John Diringer, age 44. In Rye he lived with his sister Ruth at 16 Fernwood Ave.

William enlisted April 15, 1942 and served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He was a Staff Sgt. of the Army Transport Corps at Newport News and Hampton Roads, Va.. The Transportation Corps is a combat service support branch of the U.S. Army. It is responsible for the movement of personnel and material by truck, rail, air, and sea.

William married Emily Patricia Coote December 8, 1942 in Newport News, Virginia and they would have five children. After the war, the family moved to New Castle, NY and William was employed as a sales representative for a food company.

William Edmund Diringer died in October 18, 1984 in Waterbury, Connecticut, at the age of 67.
