William J. Egan was born n New Britain Conn Dec 12 1916. He was the son of Winifred Phillips Egan and Patrick Egan. he had two brother Joseph and Charles, along with two sisters Anna and Frances. In Rye his family lived at 1 Railroad Ave and were members of the Church of the Resurrection. William was a Rye High School Graduate, Class of 1937.
He enlisted and served in the U.S. Army during World War II.
Included in the service section of the Rye Lions Club Newsletter are the following comments “CpL William Egan writing us from Assam India tells us that Russell Ferris was attached to his outfit there. They were surprised and glad to see each other but can’t tell us what they are doing because of censorship”

After the war, William was a route salesman for the Silvercup Bread Co. He was a member of the bakery- milk industry union in Connecticut.
William J. Egan’s car ran off an embankment on Saxon Woods Road September 23,1966. He was pronounced dead was at the scene, a the victim of an apparent heart attack. He was 50 years old.
At the time of his death, William J. Egan was survived by his wife the former Ruth Mead of the home address two brothers Charles and Joseph both of Port Chester two sisters Mrs Edward Collins of Port Chester and Mrs Ann Bernard of Bridgeport Conn and several nelces and nephews.
