Henry Eggers was born on January 10, 1889, in Hoboken, New Jersey, to Hermine Christine Elizabeth Schmidt, age 26, and Heinrich “Henry” Eggers, age 38.

Henry served as an officer in the U.S. Army during World War I and was a Mounted Scout stationed at the Mexican border, in 1916. A member of the 7th Regiment for 10 years, Captain Eggers was sent from this regiment to the Officers Training School, Plattsburg, wT here he received his commission as Second Lieutenant in 1917 and a year later was commissioned First Lieutenant.

He married Miss Hazel Edna Healy on November 17, 1919, in New York City, New York. They had two children during their marriage. In Rye his family lived at 99 Captains Lane and were members of the Presbyterian Church.

Henry also served as an officer in the U.S. Army during World War II. He received a commission as Captain in the Corps of Military Police.

Henry Eggers, Jr. , of Captains Lane, Greenhaven, Rye, has received a Commission as Captain in the Corps of Military Police, and will leave today for Governors Island. Captain Eggers served in the last World War, and was a Mounted Scout stationed at the Mexican border, in 1916. A member of the 7th Regiment for 10 years, Captain Eggers was sent from this regiment to the Officers Training School, Plattsburg, wT here he received his commission as Second Lieutenant in 1917 and a year later was commissioned First Lieutenant. Resident of Greenhaven for many years Captain Eggers has played an active part in many community and civic affairs.

He had been associated with New York Life for 40 years before his retirement and was a member the New York City Chamber of Commerce. He was a member of the Order Foreign Wars, 308th Infantry, American Legion, Retired Officers Association, Reserve Officers Association and Seventh Division Association.

Henry Eggers Jr. died on January 20, 1962, at his residence. He was 73 years old.

At the time of his death, he was survived by his wife, Hazel Healy Eggers; two daughters, Mrs. Hazel Carillo and Mrs. Alan C. Abeel Jr.; a brother, Herman; four sisters, Mrs. Robert Mackey, Mrs.
Edward Weissauer and Mrs. Calvin Barnes Miss Hermine Eggers; five and grandchildren..
