Lawrence Farrell was born in New York on June 19th, 1916. In Rye his family lived at 15a Forest Avenue. Lawrence’s family consisted of his father Harry, his mother May, his 2 younger brothers William and Harry. Lawrence’s father had an 8th grade education, and worked as a chauffeur for a private family. Lawrence’s mother had an 8th grade education, and was a homemaker.

Lawrence went to Resurrection school and was a proud member of the Rye High School Class of 1934. Per the 1940 Census Lawrence held a job as a delivery clerk, and worked 54 hours a week 52 weeks a year.

Also, preceeding the war he followed in his father’s footsteps, and worked as a chauffeur. However, his time as a chauffeur was cut short due to the emergence of World War II. He enlisted in the Army on March 12, 1942, in Yaphank, New York, during World War II. He was 25 years old.. Lawrence bravely served our country for four years, and received an honorable discharge in 1946. On April 26, 1947 he married Ann Morgan at St. Joseph’s Church in East Rutherford, NJ.

After the war Lawrence worked as an oil truck driver for Rye Fuel & Supply Co. He was with the company for over 30 years before retiring in 1980.

Lawrence Farrell of Harrison, formerly of Rye died at home June 6,2002, he was 85. He was survived by his wife Ann Farrell of Harrison, NY, daughter Dawn Nodarse of Harrison and son-in-law Louis, daughter Gail Picciati of Tilson, NY, four granddaughters and one great-grandson and his brother William J. Farrell of Rye, NY. Family members who died earlier include his brother Harry J. Farrell, Jr. in 2001.

A Funeral Mass was held Monday, June 10, 2002 at Resurrection Church and interment followed at Greenwood Union Cemetery.
