Thomas M. Healy was bom June 14 1922 in Washington DC to Thomas P and Elizabeth Moore Healy. In Rye his family lived at 25 Apawamis Avenue and were members of the Church of the Resurrection. Thomas served as an officer in the U.S. Army during World War II.

During World War II he was an infentry lieutenant in the, 2nd Infantry Regiment, 5th Infantry Division of Gen. George Patton’s Third Army. Thomas saw action in France and Luxembourg and was wounded twice. He was awarded the Silver Star, the Purple Heart with Oak Leaf Cluster, the Combat Infantry Badge and the European Theater Ribbon with four battle stars.

The Third Army After Action of May 1945 states that the Third Army captured 765,483 prisoners of war, with an additional 515,205 of the enemy already held in corps and divisional level POW camps processed between 9 May and 13 May 1945, for a total of 1,280,688 POWs, and that, additionally, Third Army forces killed 144,500 enemy soldiers and wounded 386,200, for a total of 1,811,388 in enemy losses.

Thomas Healy was a graduate of Phillips Academy in Andover Mass, Yale University in New Haven Conn and Georgetown University Law School in Washington.

On Sept. 15 1956 Thomas married Edith G.P.M. Corten at the Church of the Resurrection in Rye. The couple lived in Rye and moved to Rye Brook in 1988

A member of the New York Bar Thomas specialized in labor law and was labor counsel for Western Union in New York City for more than 25 years. He retired in the early 1990s.

Thomas M Healy a longtime Rye and Rye Brook resident and retired labor lawyer for Western Union Corp died Monday at home in Rye Brook. He was 74. At the time of his death, in addition to bis wife, he was survived by two daughters’ Suzanne Healy of Soquel Calif and Renee Healy of New York City a son David of Burlington Vt and a sister Elizabeth Healy of Rye. A son, Thomas P, 19 died in a automobile accident in December 1979
