Hugo Richard HeyelHugo Richard Heyel was born July 2, 1912 in Batavia, New York to Carrie L. Mosher and JT Heyel. He was raised and educated in Greenwich, Ct and a graduate of Greenwich High School.
Miss Gabrielle G. O’ Meara, of Guelisten Place, Rye, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Patrick O’ Meara, of Tarrytown, was married April 11, 1937 to Richard Hugo Heyel. The ceremony was performed in the Church of the Transfiguration, Tarrytown, by the Rev.
John Wholy, assistant a pastor.
In Rye the couple lived lived at Highland Hall and were members of the Presbyterian Church. Hugo enlisted in 1942 and served during World War II and is listed on the Honor Roll at Rye City Hall.
After the war Hugo owned and operated a beauty salon on Purchase St. in Rye. In the early 1950’s the couple moved to Florida. He lived in St. Petersburg Beach for 26 years, where he was owner of a beauty salon and a former member of Garden of Peace Lutheran Church.
In April 1980, his wife Gabrielle passed away and he moved to Plantation, FL and was a member of Our Savior Lutheran Church.
Hugo Richard Heyel, 78, died Friday January 18, 1991 in Plantation, FL.
At the time of his death, survivors included a brother, Theodore, Kerrville, Texas; and a sister, Helen Meredith, San Diego.
