William Horgan was bornSeptember 15, 1922 in Illinois, his father, Cornelius, was 40 and his mother, Abigail, was 31. He had one sister, Mary and a brother Henry.

In Rye his family lived at 100 North St and were members of the Church of the Resurrection. William was a Rye High School Graduate, Class of 1941.

He enlisted in 1942 and served in the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II.

William Horgan married Catharine Mary Stanton Horgan in 1959. They would have one daughter during their marriage.

He died on September 9, 2001, in Harwich, Massachusetts, at the age of 81.

William Joseph, 81 of Harwich, MA, in Hyannis, MA on Sunday, September 9, 2001 after a lengthy illness. Husband of the late Phyllis J. (Mitchell) Horgan. Father of Joanne C. Horgan of Harwich, MA. Brother of Henry J. Horgan of W. Yarmouth, MA and Mary A. Walsh of Saugus, MA. Several nieces & nephews also survive.

Funeral service will be held on Wednesday, Sept. 12 at 9:15 a.m., to be followed by a Funeral Mass at 10:00 a.m., in Holy Trinity Church in Harwich. Interment will follow at the Mass National Cemetery, Bourne, MA.
