Kenneth A. Hubel
Kenneth A. Hubel was born in New York, New York November 11,1927 to G. Andrew Hubel and Madeline B Rudinger. He was raised and educated in Rye, NY and was a Rye High School graduate, class of 1945. In Rye his family lived at 350 Oakland Beach Ave.
Kenneth enlisted immediately after graduating and served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He served in the Navy from July, 1945, until June 1946. He was a Seaman First Class and was trained as a radar technician.

He graduated the University of Rochester for his A.B. degree in 1950. He earned his medical degree from Cornell University Medical College in New York City in 1954 and inducted into Alpha Omega Alpha Honorary Society.
Kenneth then served in the Navy again as a reserve medical officer. He completed a residency in internal medicine at the Upstate Medical Center, Syracuse.
Kenneth married Jan Greer May 19, 1957 at Mount Kisco Methodist Church with the Rev. C Pershing Hunter officiating. They would have three children.
Kenneth and his family moved to Iowa City in 1962. He was a Professor at the University of Iowa Carver College of Medicine from 1962-98, teaching gastroenterology. He was also a Research Fellow-Oxford University 1969-70. Kenneth was a tenacious writer of letters to the editor of the “Gazette” in Iowa for many years.
