Description

Vincent L Ianniello was born on June 8, 1925 in Castelfranco, Province of Benevento Italy, to Angelina D’Apice, age 21, and Leonardo Ianniello, age 24. He had two sisters and in Rye the family lived at 2 High Street.

He was educated in the Rye Public School System and was a Rye High School graduate class of 1944. He and 13 others from his class left school early to enlist in the armed forces. Vincent enlisted January 21, 1944 and served in the U.S. Army during WWII.

He went overseas in August 1944 after training at Camp Blanding, Fla. He saw action in Northern France, Luxembourg and Germany.

Vincent rose to the rank of sergeant and was was wounded shortly before Christmas 1944, during the Battle of the Bulge. He was transferred to an Army hospital in England to recover. He received the Purple Heart and was honorably discharged in February 1946

Returning home from the war, Vincent attended school in New York City for clock repair and jewelry design. Throughout his long career, he was employed by various jewelry stores in White Plains, Port Chester, and Greenwich.

Vincent Ianniello, 89 of Rye Brook, NY passed away on April 4, 2015.

He was predeceased by his sisters Marie Ianniello and Yolanda Fiorito. At the time of his death, he was survived by his 3 nieces, Carol King (Edward), Linda Fiorito, Lisa Laracca (Paul) and several great nieces and nephews.

A Mass of Christian Burial was held at St. Roch’s Church, Greenwich, CT.

Interment followed at St. Mary’s Cemetery, Greenwich, CT.
