Kenneth F. Kedney

Mr. Kedney wss born Aug: 17, 1926, in Port Chester to John T. and Eleanor Brennan Kedney. He was raised and educated in Rye and graduated from Rye High School.

He had six siblings sisters Winifred and Agnes and brothers Peter (Roy), John, Donald and Charles In Rye his family lived at 189 Purchase Street and were members of the Church of the Resurrection. Kenneth enlisted and served in the U.S. Army during World War II.

He also served in the U.S. Army as a master sergeant in the Military Police during the Korean War. He was a personal body guard to Gen. Leslie Groves, who headed the Manhattan Project that developed the atomic bomb.

Kenneth was a member of the Rye Police Department for 25 years.

He was a member of the American Legion Post 93 in Port Chester and a volunteer with the Rye Fire Department. He belonged to the ushers society at Resurrection Church in Rye.

Kenneth F. Kedney, a retired Rye police officer, died 4/1/1996 at his home in Rye. He was 89. Mr. Kedney was survived by a sister, Agnes Arndt of Rye. Four brothers, John, Charles, Ray and Donald Kedney, and a sister, Winifred Farrell, died earlier.
