Early Life

Chester Elbert Lounsbury was born on June 9, 1883, in Connecticut, the son of Hobart Iverson Lounsbury and Harriett E. Lowden. He later lived in Rye, New York, on Grace Church Street.

By the time of World War I, he was employed as a chauffeur for C. S. Smith in Rye.

World War I Service

Chester E. Lounsbury registered for the draft on September 12, 1918, in Rye, New York. His record reflects participation in the draft during the final months of World War I.

There is no confirmed record of active military or naval service, enlistment, or overseas deployment.

Life After Service

Following the war, Lounsbury worked for many years at the Yale & Towne Manufacturing Company in Stamford, Connecticut, eventually retiring from that position.

He was a member of Acacia Lodge No. 85, Free and Accepted Masons, and a past patron of the Order of the Eastern Star.

Chester Elbert Lounsbury died on January 10, 1953, at Stamford Hospital in Stamford, Connecticut.

He was survived by his wife, Laura Flint Lounsbury; his daughter, Minerva L. Lounsbury (Mrs. Edward P. Sandreuter); and his sister, Mrs. Allen Purdy.
