Description

Allan Edward Macnicol Jr. was born on April 8, 1930. Before he was at the age of one, his family moved from Florida to New York on the ship Munargo. He lived on 9 Hill Street in Rye. He lived with his father (Allan), mother (Ann), and older sister by 4 years (Katherine). Allan’s father worked as a Marine Superintendent and his mother as a teacher at a private school. Allan attended Rye High School and graduated in 1948 after a very active time at Rye. In 1947 Allan was his junior class president and in 1948 he was the senior class treasurer. He also participated in sports such as football and tennis. During the Korean War, Allan proudly served his country in the U.S. Air Force.

Allan E. MacNicol (1930 – 2005)

Allan E. MacNicol was born in Greenwich, Connecticut on April 8th, 1930, the son of Colonel Allan Edward, Sr., and Ann (Lee) MacNicol. He grew up in Rye, New York during the depression and World War II era and attended Rye High School. In school he was an excellent athlete, earning varsity letters in football, hockey, and track.

Allan E. MacNicol, while living in New London, NH passed away on Saturday, July 2, 2005 following an aviation accident age 75.

Allan is survived by his wife: Shirley MacNicol; his three children: Mary, Tom & John MacNicol, John’s wife, Diane; his two step-children: Pamela Keefe & Roy Thomas Shapard, III and his wife Lisa; grandchildren: Felicia & Christopher MacNicol, Roy Thomas Shapard, IV & Jamey Mills; sister: Katherine MacNicol Purcell as well as numerous friends and extended family worldwide.
A Memorial Service will be held at the First Baptist Church. New London, NH on Friday July 15, 2005 at 11:00 AM. Donations in lieu of flowers may be made in support of the Mount Washington National Landmark of Soaring project. Checks should be made out with “Landmark” in the memo line and sent to the National Soaring Museum, 51 Soaring Hill Drive, Elmira, NY 14903.
