Thomas M. Miner / Mainiero was born in New York on November 3rd, 1920. In Rye his family lived on 20 Richard Place. In Rye Thomas lived with his father Leonard, his mom Susie, his two sisters Gertrude and Lucy and his two brothers Anthony and James. Thomas’s father had an 8th grade education, and worked as a laborer. Thomas’s mother had a 4th grade education, and was a homemaker.
Thomas was a proud member of the Rye high school class of 1938.
Following high school Thomas took up a job working as a typist. He continued this occupation, until enlisting in the army in August of 1942. In the army Thomas served as a medic, and was stationed in England rising to the rank of corporal. Following World War II Thomas was honorably discharged and began his civilian life.
On Oct 22, 1949, he married Phyllis Joy Waeber at Sacred Heart Church in Byram. He moved to Port Chester for a short time before moving to the Byram section of Greenwich, Connecticut, in 1965.
For 30 years, Thomas Miner was a manager of Neptune Worldwide Moving in New Rochelle and retired in June 1982.
He was a golfer and gardener, and he loved big-band music. He was also a fan of the New York Rangers and New York Knicks.
Thomas M. Miner, a native of Rye and retired manager of a New Rochelle moving company, died Saturday, July 5, 1997, at Yale-New Haven Hospital, in New Haven, Conn. He was 76. Mrs. Miner died July 16, 1982.
At the time of his death, he was survived by four sons, Thomas of Wilton, Conn., Philip of Norwich, Conn:, David of Raleigh, N.C., and Brute of Beacon Falls, Conn.; two sisters, Jane Strecker and. Trudy Roth, both of Enfleld, Conn.; and four grandchildren. Two brothers, James Miner and Anthony Mainiero, and sister, Lucy Miner, died earlier
