John Minniti was born in September 24, 1913 to John and Anna Melillo Minniti in Port Chester, where he grew up and attended schools. John was the grandson of Felix Melillo of Port Chester, a local active civic and political activist. In Rye his family lived at 39 Adelaide Street.
John enlisted November 28, 1942 and served in the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II.

John served in the U.S. Army Air Corps stationed in England and was in the military police in Miami. He was honorably discharged on October 9, 1945. He married Angelica Delibovi in 1948 in Rye and they had three children. For years, John ran a commercial fishing boat out of Port Chester harbor. He later was captain of the Delmar, a charter fishing boat, out of Greenwich.
John lived in Greenwich for 45 years before moving to Florida in 1985 when he retired. He was active in bowling leagues in Greenwich and Florida.
John Minniti Jr., a commercial fisherman based in Port Chester who later operated a charter boat out of Greenwich, Conn., died Monday, March 10, 1997, at Cape Coral Hospital in Cape Coral, Fla. He was 83 and lived in North Fort Myers, Fla.
At the time off his death in addition to his wife, he was survived by two sons, Donald Minniti of Lake Worth, Fla., and John Minniti III of Trumbull, Conn.; a daughter Laur-Ann Lubrano of Stratford, Conn.; a sister, Frances Minniti Graziano of Lake Worth, Fla.; and six grandchildren.
Three brothers, Domenick, Phillip and Anthony, died earlier. He was cremated in Florida.
