Theodore Talmadge Pearson

Theodore Talmadge Pearson was born on August 5, 1917, in Brightwaters, New York, to Helen Elise Weed, age 28, and Ward Edgerly Pearson, age 29.

The late Dr. and Mrs. Frederick S. Pearson, of London, England, who were lost on the “Lusitania” in 1915, were his grandparents.

In Rye his family lived at Apawamis Avenue and were members of Christ’s Church. He attended St. George’s School and was graduated from Yale University in 1939.

 

 


Talmadge served as an officer in the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II. He had a distinguished military record during World War II.

He first served in the U.S. Army Field Artillery and then transferred to Army Air Corp.

He was a pilot in a medium bombardment group in the European Theatre with the rank of major. He served overseas as a B-26 Marauder pilot with the 9th Air Force.

Talmadge was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross, the Air Medal with seven clusters, the Distinguished Unit Citation, three Battle Stars and was the Croix de Guerre by France.

 

 

He married Leila Redgate Lister in 1947 and they would have four children. Talmadge worked for R. C. A. International, New York. He was a member of the Apawamis Club and the Leash and Yale Club of New York City.

T. Talmadge Pearson, 50, son of Mrs. Ward E. Pearson of Drake Smith Lane, died suddenly on Monday September 1, 1967 at his home in New Canaan, Conn.

In addition to his mother, he was survived by his wife, Lelia Redgate Pearson, and four children, Christopher, Cynthia, Pamela and Cherie.
