Benjamin Petrizzi was bom July 12 1913 in Barile Italy to Domenick and Grace Cefola Petrizzi. He had three brothers and two sisters. The family moved to Rye in 1926 and he attended Rye schools. In Rye his family lived at 46 Purchase St. Benjamin enlisted and served in the U.S. Army during World War II.

Benjamin worked as a barber until joining the US Army in 1940. He served in the Army Medical Corps for five years.

The Medical Corps (MC) of the U.S. Army is a staff corps (non-combat specialty branch) of the U.S. Army Medical Department (AMEDD) consisting of commissioned medical officers – physicians with either an M.D. or a D.O. degree, at least one year of post-graduate clinical training, and a state medical license.

The MC traces its earliest origins to the first physicians recruited by the Medical Department of the Army, created by the Second Continental Congress in 1775. The US Congress made official the designation “Medical Corps” in 1908, although the term had long been in use informally among the Medical Department’s regular physicians.

Benjamin and Fannie Marchesani were married Sept 7 1946 at St. Gregory’s Church in Harrison. He became co-owner of Central Barber Shop in Rye.He retired from the barbershop and movedhis family to in 1960. He worked for 17 years as a locker room assistant for the New York Rangers hockey team. Aflter the Rangers won the Stanley Cup in 1994, Benjamin received a championship ring.

At the time of his death he was survived by his wife a son Robert of Monroe Ct, two brothers Ralph Petrizzi of Austin Texas and Dr Daniel Petrizzi of Geneva NY a sister Elena Vetere of Rye and two grandchildren.
