Gerald Eugene Rowley

Gerald Eugene Rowley was born on November 7, 1906, in Leominster, Massachusetts, to Lillian Josephine Bishop and Frederick Holland Rowley. A native of Leominster, Mass. He attended Massachusetts schools and studied accounting and business administration at Boston University.

He married Ruth Acker Kinch on December 17, 1927, in New York City, New York. From 1934 to 1942, he was connected with the Westchester County Park Commission, Playland Authority, at Rye,

In Rye his family lived at 131 Purchase St and were members of the Presbyterian Church.

Gerald enlisted February 13, 1943 and served as an officer in the U.S. Army during World War II. He was assigned to duty in the Pacific Theatre and honorably discharged as captain July 26, 1946.

After the war he was director of the Veterans Bonus Bureau and directed payment of $400,000,000 bonus claims. In 1950-51 he was with the New York State Rent commission as deputy state rent administrator. In 1952 he was with the New York State Tax Commission as deputy tax commissioner and director of truck mileage bureau. Gerald was executive secretary of Associated Railroads of New York State from 1953 to 1957.

He then married Florence Amos Tyler on March 16, 1954, in Washington, District of Columbia. In 1958 he started his own business and was head of Rowley Associates, Inc., insurance and real estate brokers. He was appointed Rye Republican campaign chairman in 1958. He would continue as NY State Director of Miscellaneous Tax Department until his retirement December 1, 1966.

Gerald Eugene Rowley moved to Florida after retiring, he died on May 29, 1975, in Boca Raton, at the age of 68.

At the time of his death, he was survived by his wife, Florence, Boca Raton, and a sister, Fay Collins, Zephyr Hills.
