Description

Daniel Russo was born in Portchester, New York on December 10th, 1927. In Rye, he lived at 99 Maple Road, with his mother Anna, father Frank, and his four siblings: Blanche, Catherine, John, and Barbara. His father Frank worked as a wage worker for the government, and his mother was the head of the household. Prior to the war, Daniel was heavily involved in his athletics and academics. In the third grade, he boosted perfect attendance, and at his time at Rye High School he was a key member of the varsity football team. Daniel later graduated from Rye High School in 1946 and shortly after graduation he was drafted into the Korean War as a member of the US Army.
