James Joseph Savage was born on August 25, 1925, in Port Chester, New York, his father, Patrick, was 35 and his mother, Mary, was 32. He married Mary Elizabeth Schindo on June 20, 1954, in Rye, New York. They had two children during their marriage. He died on March 24, 2011, at the age of 85.
