Edmund G. Sutherland was born in Port Chester, N. Y., on Sept. 5, 1925, to Edmund G. Sutherland, Sr. and Gertrude Fremd Sutherland. In Rye his family lived at 102 Indian Road.
Edmund was a Rye High School Graduate, Class of 1943. In school he was involved with the Hunting & Fishing and Stamp Clubs, he also ran track.

Edmund enlisted and served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He served in the Cavalry Replacement Training Center at Fort Riley Kansas.
Edmund married Patricia Shea on June 20, 1949, in Greenwich, Connecticut. They had four children during their marriage.
Edmund had a 37 year career as international traffic manager of U.S. Plywood which later became International Paper and then Champion International Paper.
Edmund G. Sutherland, 86, of Riverside, died peacefully surrounded by his family on Sept. 6, 2011 at The Nathaniel Witherell Nursing Home in Greenwich.
He is also survived by his four grandchildren, Rachel Sutherland Allmashy (Kevin), Elizabeth Sutherland, Laura Sutherland, and Douglas Sutherland; his sister, Julie Small Bernhardt, of Naples, Florida; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his sister, Gertrude Sutherland Vales.
Burial took place in St. Mary’s Cemetery in Greenwich following a private family service.
