BIOGRAPHY
Thomas Foster Orr
Thomas Foster Orr was born on October 16, 1913, in Port Chester, New York, to Caroline McGuire, age 24, and Jesse Foster Orr, age 20. He was raised and educated in Port Chester and a graduate of Port Chester High School. He had one brother
Foster William "Bill" Orr
and in Rye his family lived at
21 Elmwood Ave.
Thomas enlisted September 2,1942 and served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He rose to the rank of sergeant and served with the Army in the Pacific. He was honorably discharged November 2,1945
Thomas re-enlisted in The US Air Force May 17, 1948. He married Peggy Jane Pisciotta May 24, 1957 in Nevada. Thomas served during the Korean and Vietnam wars and retired April 30,1966.
After he retired from the US Air Force, he was employed by the Pinkerton Security Service
Thomas Foster Orr died on July 23, 1980, at the age of 66, at the Veterans Administration Hospital in Columbia, SC.
At the time of his death, survivors included his wife Peggy Merrifield Orr of Dalzell a son Timothy E Orr of the home two daughters Caroline M Davis of Elgin AFB Florida and Barbara J Orr of the home a brother William F Orr of El Paso Texas and a sister Beverly Queen of Escondito Calif
Graveside services were held in the National Cemetery in Florence, SC with full military rites. The Rev John J Leddy officiated.
