 Allan M Herrick
Allan Myron Herrick was born on June 10, 1922, in Scranton, Pennsylvania, to Florence Baldwin Ayer, age 34, and Clarence Allen Herrick, age 34. He had two brothers Carson and Paul and one sister Florence. In Rye his family lived at 66 Milton Road and were members of the Presbyterian Church.
Allan graduated from St. Paul's School in Concord, N.H., and from Wesleyan University in 1945, and attended Harvard Business School. He was a member of Alpha Delta Phi. He was a member, of the American Yacht and Apawamis Club.
Allan served as an officer in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He received a commission in the Naval Reserve in 1944. He was in the Central and Northern Pacific area for 15 months and received the Philippines Liberation Ribbon.

Ensign Allan M. Herrick. USNR, son of Mrs. Clarence Herrick of Blind Brook Lodge, received his degree in absentia with honors from Wesleyan University on June 24. His brothers are also in the service, Carson is a flight officer in the Royal Canadian Air Force, Paul is a lieutenant j. g. in the United States Naval Reserve and hopes to put in on the West Coast in September Thomas Carnegie, 3rd. husband of the former Miss Florence Herrick, is flight instructor in the U. S. Air Force. Instructing French cadets at Montgomery, Ala Mrs. Carnegie is with him.

Allan married Elizabeth Bruce Brown, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Harry Whiting Brown of 37 Tanglewylde Avenue, Bronxville at Bronxville Reformed Church on February 2, 1946. The Rev. John Henderson Powell, Jr., officiated. The couple would have five children during their marriage.
In the early 1950's Allan and family moved to New Hampshire and lived in the Upper Valley for 19 years. He was the general manager of Starlake Farm and a manager of Billings Dairy in Norwich.
He and his wife operated the Beefeater Restaurant in Hanover for a few years. In 1964, he became employed by Dartmouth College in the development office.
In 1973, they moved to North Carolina, where Allan worked in the development offices for Guilford College and later at Duke University.
He then was a private consultant for the Bryan Family Foundation in Greensboro, N.C. He was a devoted family man with special interests in sailing, American history and gardening.
Allan M. Herrick, 70, died September 16, 1992 at his home after a brief illness.
At the time of his death, he was survived by his wife; two daughters, Anne-Hart Herrick of Chapel Hill, N.C., and Judy Jorgensen of Lebanon; a foster daughter, Susan Graham-Cota of Lyme; three sons, Allan and Henry, both of Hillsborough, N.C., and Charles of Cincinnati, Ohio; a sister, Florence Carnegie of Colorado Springs, Colo.; several grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. A private service was held at the family home in North Carolina.
