Description

Mallick F. Conover was born in New York in 1923. He had two brothers Quentin and John and two sisters Mary and Elizabeth. In Rye his family lived at 11 Eleanor Street and were members of the Church of the Resurrection.

Mallick enlisted and served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He served in Europe, attaining the rank of corporal and earning two service medals, a Victory Medal and a Good Conduct Medal.

On April 6, 1947, he and Dorothy Erickion were married at Ressurection Church in Rye. They would have three children.

Mallick worked as a waiter and maitre’ d at restaurants in the area including the former Washington Arms in Mamaroneck and the former Cherry Lodge in Harrison.

He retired in the mid-1970s.Mallick was a member of the Harrison chapter of the Knights of Columbus.

Mallick F. Conover, a retired waiter and maitre d’, died of cancer Wednesday April 9, 1986 at Calvary Hospital in the Bronx. A lifelong resident of the Rye-Harrison area, he was 62.

At the time of his death, he was survived by two daughters, Carole Consigliere of Port Chester and Susan Conover of the Bronx; his son, James of Washington, D.C; two sisters, Mary Nordmann and Elizabeth Savage, both of Rye; two brothers, John of Key Biscayne, Fla., and Quentin of Baltimore; and two grandchildren. His wife died in August 1975.
