Description
Richard Howe Cormany was born on December 31, 1919, in New York, New York, to J. Louise Jones, age 29, and Harold L. Cormany, age 30. He had one brother Frank and in Rye his family lived at 109 Bradford Avenue.
Richard was a graduate of Harrison High School and winner of the Industrial Arts medal for the class of 1939.
He graduated from the New York State Merchant Marine Academy at exercises at Fort Schuyler, New York City, at which Gov.
Herbert Lehman was the principal speaker. He had completed the two-year course at the school and will be graduated as a cadet engineer.
Richard would go on to serve in the Merchant Marines during World War II.
After the war, Richard was an engineer for Los Angeles County, who lived in Lomita, CA for 20 years . He was a member of both the Marine Square Club and the Society of Port Engineers of San Pedro. He also was a lifetime member of the National Rifle Association the State Rifle Association and the Masonic Order of New York
Richard H. Cormany died Dec 17, 1987
At the time of his death, he was survived by his wife Christine, a son Forrest of Norwalk and a brother Frank of South Carolina Services were at The Gamby Mortuary Lomita with private burial at Green Hills Memorial Park Rancho Palos Verdes
