Thomas A. DelValThomas A. DelVal was born Feb. 13, 1908. to Michael and Marietta Gioseffi Del-Vecchio in Rye, where he attended Rye schools .He had two brothers Angelo and Michael and two sisters Phyllis and Anne. In Rye his family lived at 382 Midland Ave and were members of the Church of the Resurrection.
Thomas enlisted on 11/27/43 and served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He was a motor machinist’s mate. For his service, Thomas was awarded the Asiatic Pacific Medal, the American Theater Medal and the Victory Medal.
In 1933. he married Matilda Masi at Corpus Christi Church in Port Chester. Thomas was a motor machinist’s mate in the U.S. Navy during World War II.

For many years, Thomas was an attendant at what was then Abel’s Gas Station in. Port Chester. He also worked at the Apawamls Club in Rye.
In 1959, he and his wife moved to Fort Lauderdale. He retired in 1978. While in Rye, Thomas enjoyed playing golf at the Apawamls Club, his wife said. “That was what he used to do most” .
Thomas A. DelVal, a Rye resident who was a mechanic for the city of Fort Lauderdale, Fla., for 13 years, died June 5, 1987 after a short Illness at the Bennett Humana Hospital in Plantation, Fla. He was 79
At the time of his death, in addition to his wife, Thomas was survived by a son, Thomas M. of Sunrise; a brother. Michael of Rye; and two sisters, Phyllis Matturro of Mamaroneck and Anne Costas of Harrison.
