Dunn, William B.

Description

William Bernard Dunne was born on February 10, 1906, in Somerville, Massachusetts, to Mary Smitth, age 28, and James Dunne, age 26. He was educated at Boston Latin School and then Harvard.

After college, in 1930, he was working as an actor and living at his parents home in Middlesex , MA. He had six years’ experience on the professional stage, acting in Boston and New York and touring the country in the company of Walker Whiteside.

William married Margaret Simonton on April 19, 1936, in Alexandria, Virginia. In Rye they lived at 131 Purchase St. and both were teachers at Rye Country Day School.

William enlisted January 20, 1943 and served as an officer in the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II. He was honorably discharged April 4, 1946.

After the war, William and his wife moved to Hempstead, NY and he was working for an airline as a dispatcher.

William Bernard Dunne died on November 29, 1979, in Middletown, Connecticut, at the age of 73.
