Stephen Farrelly

Stephen Farrelly was born on April 13, 1922, in New York City, New York, to Evelyn McKenna, age 34, and James Tully Farrelly, age 36. He had one sister Helen.

His mother Evelyn passed away on December 6, 1924, in New Rochelle, New York, at the age of 36. Stephen and Helen would go to live with their Aunt Elizabeth. In Rye his family lived on Hillside Rd and were members of the Church of the Resurrection. Stephen enlisted and served in the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II.

He served dutifully in the U. S. Air Force during WWII in Italy

After the war Stephen moved to Albuquerque in 1948. He was recipient of a baccalaureate in Philosophy from the University of New Mexico in 1952.

Stephen subsequently went to work as a high-speed test photographer at Sandia National Laboratories, retiring in 1971 in order to concentrate more fully on his burgeoning rental property business, a business that he played an active role in until the day of his death.

Former president of the La Noche Garden Club and publisher of the Bon Vivant wine guide, Stephen was also an avid still photographer, birdwatcher, woodworker, and world traveler. He loved life and all who had the pleasure of knowing him will sorely miss his cleverness and humor.

”For now I am ready to go. The time of my departure is at hand. I have fought the good fight. I have finished my course, I have kept the faith.”

Stephen Farrelly, 83, a noted Albuquerque rental property owner and retired Sandian, died on Saturday, February 11, 2006, following a short illness.

At the time of his death, Stephen left behind his loving wife of 60 years, Flora; son, David and wife, Mary Ellen; daughter, Diana and husband, Thomas Scalf; and two grandchildren, Jeremiah and Victoria.

A Gathering of family and friends was held at French Mortuary, University Blvd. Chapel.
