EARLY LIFE
George Augustus Ferris was born on December 31, 1896, in Stamford, Connecticut, the son of Charles Augustus Ferris and Johanna Christine Schmid. He was raised in Rye, New York in a large family.
WORLD WAR I SERVICE
Ferris enlisted in the United States Army on May 7, 1918, at Fort Slocum, New York.
He was assigned to Motor Transport Company 439 of the Quartermaster Corps, supporting supply and transport operations of the American Expeditionary Forces.
He served overseas in France from July 10, 1918, to July 27, 1919.
He was promoted to Corporal on November 7, 1918, and his record indicates no wounds received in action. He was honorably discharged on August 1, 1919.
POSTWAR LIFE
Following the war, Ferris later relocated to Falmouth, Massachusetts.
George Augustus Ferris died on July 31, 1985, in Falmouth, Massachusetts, and was buried there.
