Walter Perry Myers was born in Peoria, IL, on September 6, 1885, to Dora I Whisler, age 25, and Julius F Myers, age 34. He received the degree of Bachelor of Commercial Science from New York University in 1910 and the Bachelor of Law degree from the same institution in 1913.

Mr. Myers joined the faculty of New York University’s School of Commerce, Accounts, and Finance in 1915 as a graduate assistant. In 1919 he was appointed instructor of law and in 1921 named assistant professor of law.

He married Laurette E. Walker June 12, 1926 at Brick Presbyterian Church in NYC. They had two sons and in Rye his family lived at 15 Hillside Road and were members of the Rye Presbyterian Church.

During the First World War, Mr. Myers served with the cavalry as an adjutant on General Pershing’s staff. He held the grade of captain in the cavalry reserve and stayed active between wars.

He enlisted in 1942 and served in the U.S. Army during World War II. His two sons Paul W Myers and John P Myers who also were WWII veterans.

Mr. Myers, a resident of Rye for thirty-five years, was assistant professor of the Law of Commerce and Finance at New York University’s School of Commerce, Accounts and Finance. He was also an attorney and certified public accountant in New York and maintained his office at 1475 Broadway in New York. In Rye he operated the Willys automobile agency and once had the Ford agency.

He was a member of the Rye Presbyterian Church, New York Athletic Club, Army and Navy Club, American Legion, New York State Society of Certified Public Accountants, New York Bar, Alpha Kappa Psi and Phi Delta Phi fraternities.

Walter P. Myers of 15 Hillside Road died on Sunday February 20, 1949 at the United Hospital after a few days illness. He was sixty-three years old.

At the time of his death he was survived by his wife, Mrs. Laurette K. Myers and two sons Paul W Myers and John P Myers who also were WWII veterans.
