Paul Walker Myers was born October 12, 1928 in Port Chester, New York, the son of Laurette Walker and Walter Perry Myers. During the First World War, his Father served with the cavalry as an adjutant on General Pershing’s staff. Paul was raised in Rye, he had one brother John P. His family lived on Hillside Road and were members of the Presbyterian Church.
He enlisted in the U.S. Army and served with the 11th Airborne Division during World War II.
Pfc. Paul W. Myers in Japan With 11th Airborne Division WITH THE EIGHTH ARMY IN JAPAN
Pfc. Paul W. Myers, 19, of Rye, is now serving with the Eleventh Airborne Division in Sendai, Japan. He has been with the Division for the past three months. After completing his basic training he volunteered for the paratroops. Taking his jump training at Fort Benning, Ga. , he qualified as a parachutist on March 2, 1945 by making the required number of jumps from a plane in flight. At present he is performing M. P. duties in his Division. After he is discharged from service he plans to go to college. His parents, Mr. and Mrs. Walter P. Myers, reside at Hillside Road, Rye.

Originally activated in 1943, the division saw extensive combat in the Pacific Theater, notably in the New Guinea and Philippines campaigns. Its most famous action was the daring Raid on Los Ba├▒os, where it rescued over 2,100 civilian internees from behind enemy lines in February 1945. The division was also the first Allied unit to enter Japan for occupation duty after the war.
After his discharge from the service Paul graduated from Shriner College, Tex., His father died in 1949 and by 1950 the family had moved to upstate NY.
Paul married Miss Nancy Louise Coulter December 9, 1951 at the United Presbyterian Church in Salem, NY. The double-ring ceremony was performed by the Rev. John C.
Brownlee of the United Presbyterian Church of West Hebron.
A reception for the bridal party and members of immediate families was held at the Bennett House in Cambridge.
The couple had one daughter and made their home at the Myers’ farm in Hebron, NY. They would eventually move to Florida and divorced in 1982.
He died on January 4, 2013, in Homestead, Florida, at the age of 84.
