Norman Lowden Peters
Norman Lowden Peters was born on February 28, 1912, in Port Chester, New York, to Catherine Lizetta Lowden, age 21, and Hubert Edusil Peters, age 30. He was raised and educated in Rye and a graduate of the Rye High School and of Pace Institute. In Rye his family lived at 23 School St.
In August 1930, Norman and his friend Stanley Billington attempted something unheard of at the time.

and Mrs. Hubert Peters, are attempting to demonstrate that it is entirely
practice! and enjoyable to take a
vacation in an airplane.
Norman married Vivian Kelly in 1942 and they had two sons and two daughters.
Norman enlisted in the Army on July 28, 1942, in Albany, New York. during World War II. He was 29 years old. Norman graduated from Officers Candidate School and served in the field artillery.
In 1943 Lieut. Norman L Peters Directs Record Breaking Artillery Fire at Fort Sill, OK. He would rise to the rank of captain and was honorably discharged December 24, 1945.
After his return, Norman and his family would move to Rockland County. He worked for many years at Columbia Presbyterian Medical Center in N.Y and retired as vice-president of finance.
After his retirement he moved to Florida in the late 70’s. There Norman was a member of St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church; a volunteer at Fawcett Memorial Hospital; a member of the Elks Lodge and a member of the Punta Gorda Country Club.
Norman L. Peters Sr. died on June 3, 1988, at Fawcett Memorial Hospital in Port Charlotte, Florida, at the age of 76, and was buried there.
At the time of his death, survivors included his wife, Vivian Peters of Port Charlotte; two daughters, Patricia Peters of Cliffside Park, N.J.; and Sharon Peters Bet-tridge of Brooklyn; two sons, Norman Peters Jr., of Nanuet, N.Y.; and Owen Peters of Dumont, N.Y.; one brother, Robert Peters of Columbia, Texas; and seven grandchildren.
Kays-Ponger Funeral Home Port Charlotte Chapel was in charge of local arrangements.
