BIOGRAPHY
Romeyn B. Scribner was born in Illinois in 1894. In Rye his family lived at 25 Milton Rd and were members of Christ Church. Romeyn served as an officer in the U.S. Navy during World War II.
Romeyn Scribner, 80, a resident of Rye for 52 years prior to moving to Stuart, Fla., died in a nursing home there last Sunday. A former club golf champion at the Apawamis Club, Mr. Scribner was active in U. S. Seniors Golf. He served with the U.S. Navy and
fought in both world wars. He was discharged with the rank of commander after World War II. He is survived by two brothers, Dr. Archy Scribner of Chappaqua and David Scribner of Armonk. His wife, Emily Lawler Scribner died six years ago.
